Toxic Sludge is Good For You

PRWatch.org

I was using stumble upon the other day and came across this website called CMD (the center for media and democracy) this is defiantly an interesting website as it is seen as an independent and non for profit media and consumer watch dog.
This website focuses and investigates on P.R campaigns and different spins those corporations, governments and organization share to the masses. These watch dogs are focused on health, liberty, economic opportunities and environment. Although the website preaches about having open content and no bias, I feel as though this website is very negative to the media.

I remember sitting in my first year communication class and our teacher starts to ask us questions regarding our future and what industry we all wanted to get into. I remember sitting with a bunch of girls in the back and we all stated that we were interested in getting in to P.R and ill never forget the look he gave us. He was disgusted with the idea, and told us that week we were going to watch a video in which would be on the exam. Everyone shows up for this video in which is going to be on our final and to our surprise it’s called: “Toxic Sludge Is Good for You: Lies, Damn Lies and the Public Relations Industry”. I personally though it was an interesting video as they showed interesting tactics of how publicist used the media. I never really thought any thing about this video ever since until I stumbled upon this website and to my surprise CMD was the producers of this video.

I think this website is very useful as they broadcast different investigations and reports about promotions, product, companies, policies and the news. This website is the whistle blowers of PR, this website could demonstrate how to conduct good PR and what to avoid from previous examples/ failed companies. This website also uses a variety of social media like Facebook, Twitter and Digg to get their message across. With the options to subscribing to a monthly news letter or an RSS feed.

COSTCO

Blogger world!
I have a little story to tell you!
As my family is gearing up for a big move this weekend and Christmas around the corner I have found myself spending allot of time in department stores. The other day I was at Costco just browsing and trying all the free samples like everyone else does. I stopped where I normally spend the majority of my time ( electronics) so I was on a mission to by an iTunes card so i looked over the whole store and to my surprise there was nothing there. So I stopped an employee and asked them if they new were the Apple products were and they told me that Costco had no intentions in getting anymore Apple products.

This was weird to me as last Christmas I bought my iPod touch from Costco, why weren't they selling Apple products anymore. So i did some research and apparently Costco is pretty pissed with Apple as they have yet to deliver the iPad to the stores! So it looks like the Costco and Apple deal is done!

All I have to say is RIM needs to step up and fill that void that Costco is missing! Costco would love to have the Playbook in their stores ( and i would love to see it also) , and what a smack in the face to Apple.

I LOVE RIM <3
Cheers

Only Great Chefs Make Great Recipes

Blogging This Not That

Greetings,
I have came across an amazing recipe from using one of my favorite websites once again www.stumbleupon.com . As we all know it was the American thanksgiving yesterday any many had turkey, and now people are wondering… “What am I going to do with all this left over’s?”

Well here it is my friends, the BLACK FRIDAY morning special! ( I have decided to rename this).. Since this would be ideal for those who are anxiously waiting at Walmart at 4am to get those door crashers! Well here it is enjoy:

Turkey and Bean Breakfast Hash
Makes 4 servings

OK, guys. Listen up
.2 tablespoons olive oil

2 green onions, thinly sliced1 medium red bell pepper,

chopped8 large eggs

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon black pepper

2 cups leftover shredded turkey, white and dark meat

1 cup canned black, red, or pinto beans, rinsed

2 cups salsa of your choice (I used chipotle salsa)

1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro, plus extra for garnish

1/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese, plus extra for garnish1.

In a large skillet over medium heat, warm oil. Add onions and peppers and saute 3-4 minutes, or until lightly browned.2. Place eggs, salt and pepper in a medium bowl and lightly whisk. Pour into the skillet. Cook 2 minutes, pushing eggs from side to side with a spatula. When eggs are about halfway cooked or "set," add turkey and beans. Cook 1 minute, stirring a few times. Add remaining ingredients and heat through, about 1-2 minutes. Eggs should be soft but no longer runny, and the cheese should be melted. Transfer to a platter and garnish with additional cilantro and cheese. Or just eat it as is. Nobody is watching you. .

As we the internet everyday in our lives I have decided to compile my favorite websites that seem to be the most useful for me... The websites are selected by
· Design
· Ease of use
· Copywriting
· Interactivity
· Use of technology
· Innovation
· Content

GOOGLE

Google is the number one visited web site daily as per “alexa.com” but come on who doesn’t use Google, as everyday they keep their design simple but still unique by customizing there banner to a different theme. Google offers a variety of search engines from maps, news, videos to images. Allowing for all users to get instant gratification through out the website…. Without Google in my life I would be lost.

FACEBOOK

Now that my grandma has Facebook it has become evident that this social networking site is a phenomenon that we can’t deny. Now that Facebook is now offering an email setting, who knows where this web site will be in a couple years as with the new email setting you are able send and share documents throughout Facebook.
www.facebook.com

LOOKBOOK

This website is definitely for people who love fashion. LOOKBOOK was created to bring together a diverse group of talented and open-minded people from around the world and showcase the best in global street fashion. This website was developed in San Francisco and has taken off from here it display young inspiring models and fashion designers which people within the fashion community rate your clothing. If you are voted for this helps you build “karma” which will allow for your clothing to be displayed on the front page.

STUMBLE UPON

With out this website my days would not be complete as this website allows me to surf the internet for hours. This unique websites pulls up websites based on things you might be interested in. It figures out what your interest are by asking short surveys and by clicking the like button on websites that interest you they are able to always come up with something new. This web site is perfect when you have time to kill and just want to surf the net. .

PEREZ HILTON

I love celebrity gossip and I love being able to instantly find out anything about a celebrity. I think Perez does a great job in updating his website. I must go to his website at least 2 to 3 times a day and there is always something new and interesting happening. Also that he has a large archive in which your able to recall any of his posting.

YOU TUBE

Although YouTube is owned by Google it’s still runs of its own separate website! Lets all face it we have all been sent a funny YouTube videos ....... either of cute kittens or a funny prank. Youtube is great because it allows for anyone to take part in this interactive world. It’s neat to see that our society today uses YouTube on a daily basis from streaming projects to just goofing around with friends. YouTube allows for people to have voice in the internet realm... kind of like the public sphere these days ....

www.youtube.com

ALEXA

This is a interesting website as it allows for you to see current internet trends and which websites are being visited the most. Interesting fact about alexa.com Is that it is a subsidiary company to amazon.com. Overall alexa.com collect information about browsing behavior and history, this web site is very useful when do research about companies.

WIKIPEDIA

I am about 100% sure if you are an internet user you have definitely crossed paths with Wikipedia as this is an online encylopedia project. Although at first the downfall with this website was that anyone had access to it which allowed for anyone to make changes to information. Within time now Wikipedia has grown so big that it is becoming a more and more reliable source as one is not able to instantly alter and information anymore without others looking over it. As a business communication major my teachers in first year warned us not to even look at this website but by the time I graduated professors were now viewing the website as some what credible.

Not Old but Not New......

I’ve never had the interest in blogging or sharing my opinion over mass media ( is it weird that im in public relations) . I’m not against the idea or people who participate in blogging. I myself follow a couple of blogs once and a while. The one blog spot that I do find myself constantly checking up on Perez Hilton I must say I’m addict to the latest celebrity gossip.

Well here I am writing a blog, for a school assignment and I found myself having a difficult time trying to figure out what I should say. I feel as though I should have some grand idea or opinion that I should share with the masses. Well I’ve decided to do a pro and cons table about blogs :)

Pros
* Great way to share opinions openly
* People like to blog: There is approximately 60 million blogs
* Able to participate in online community welcome to the “Blogosphere”
* Business are now tapping into the “Blogosphere” (( Job opportunities for the bloggers))
* Blogs are also able to have a casual laid back type of writing.

Cons
* A lot of dedication is needed for a successful blog (constant up dates)
* People can openly criticize your work.
* People might not even read your blog.
* TIME CONSUMING
* Everyone has a different stand point in life and might not interpret the meaning the same way.

Overall Blogs are a great idea as long as your able to maintain and have worthy information within them. I wish nothing but the best for the other "Blog masters" out there.
